Cosmic Atlas

A journey through time and space, Cosmic Atlas follows astronomer and storyteller Tyler Nordgren as he explores the celestial myths, modern science, and rich culinary traditions inspired by the stars.

Coming Soon

Cosmic Atlas is a journey to celestial destinations, exploring the astronomy, the histories, and the cultural feasts and celebrations inspired by the stars.

An immersive, beautiful experience, each episode will detail a story inspired by the stars, and connect it to the science that we know today about these planets and constellations.

As the stars and the moon historically guided the celebrations of harvest and the time of the year, so too will our series explore the food, farmers and culinary artists and winemakers of each region, culminating in a feast to be savored.

Astronomy, Mythology, & Storytelling

Half the day happens at night. As long as we’ve been human beings we’ve had to come to terms with that statement. From fear to fascination, we’ve been stargazers dependent on the sky at night to mark the passage of time— when to hunt and when to harvest; and it delivered us morality tales, myths, and storytelling in its changing constellations of stars.

In time, it would be from the sky that we learned about the universe in which we lived, spawning the scientific revolution and our modern world. Wherever there are people on this planet there are astronomers past and present.

It is a pursuit at play on every continent and as our night sky grows brighter with each passing year, astro-tourism is an ever-growing worldwide business sending people abroad to discover the night we are losing.

From these international dark-sky places we reconnect with our ancestral roots, see with our own eyes the latest astronomical discoveries, and are once again awed by that half of the world that happens at night. And, like our ancestors before us, we are poised once more to discover the universe in a sky we all share.

Food, Dining, & Culture

Food has always been intertwined with the rhythms of the cosmos. From ancient civilizations timing their harvests by the phases of the moon to mythological feasts honoring the gods of the sky, culinary traditions have long reflected our celestial connections. In Cosmic Atlas, we explore how astronomy and mythology have shaped the way cultures eat, drink, and celebrate.

Each episode culminates in a feast inspired by the stars—a sensory experience that brings together people, history, science, and tradition. Whether it’s tracing the influence of Jupiter’s moons on Galileo’s wine culture in Florence, uncovering the Greek myths behind constellations that guided Mediterranean fishermen, or savoring the hearty meals that sustained Arctic communities under the Northern Lights, food serves as the final, tangible link between the heavens and the earth.

Through conversations with farmers, chefs, winemakers, and historians, we rediscover the cosmic origins of ingredients, cooking techniques, and dining rituals, proving that the story of what’s on our plate is often written in the stars.
